There are great musical talents, various authentic songwriters, plenty of part-time melancholics and even more likable loners next door. And there is Florian Ostertag. His nature: down-to-earth musician. His art: handpicked and mulitfaceted. The package: an independent musical personality, featuring rough edges and a sound hint of self-mockery. “One of many”, as he often refers to himself, yet distinctive.
At the age of 16, grown up in a silent village of 400 near Stuttgart, the musical late bloomer finally discovers his artistic side and henceforth strives to teach and feed it. Florian Ostertag starts to write own songs, forms and plays in several bands, exercises himself as a sound technician and spends more and more time with fellow musicians at his self-constructed studio until he launches his first home-produced EP in 2007. Constantly searching for the perfect song or something in life that calms and keeps you grounded one might ever since call him the modest vagabond, usually to be found touring all over Germany or even Scandinavia. Whether supporting Philipp Poisel, playing with a band or solo in the style of a one-man-orchestra, Florian Ostertag always catches his increasing audience with beautiful melodies, harmonically mature and highly-creative songs from and to the heart (as recorded on his debut album "The Constant Search" | Maria Records, 2009).
By combining boyish passion and instrumental inventiveness with musical perfection he embodies such a discreet yet unique musical self that after all it stands to reason: let's rather refer to Florian Ostertag as “none of many”.
In Fall 2011 awarded with the VDKD- Nachwuchskünstler-Preis Ostertag is currently working on his second full-length album.
